I designed this infographic to accompany an audio story by Media Hub on the North Carolina Zoo and Botanical Garden’s new Asia exhibit and its expected impact on tourism and local growth in Asheboro, North Carolina.
I hand-sketched the animal illustrations and digitized them in Procreate, illustrating the gate background directly there, then vectorized and layered everything in Adobe Illustrator. I used a textured brush for the gate illustration to achieve an organic feel suited to the exhibit's natural setting, and kept the animal graphics as flatter icons for clearer visual contrast.
These graphic elements were then used to build the interactive infographic with HTML, CSS, and vanilla JavaScript. Hovering reveals each animal's name, and clicking opens a lightbox with its endangered status, native habitat, habitat types, environmental threats, and a fun fact.
